Florence + The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GF6kBNLTvaU&ob=av2n

Mis en scene:

  • Lighting/Colour
  • Costume/Hair & Makeup
  • Setting/Location/Props
  • Body language/Facial expressions
  • Positing of Characters/Objects

Throughout the whole music video it is very sunny and very bright. This gives a dreamy, nice flowing effect to the atmosphere. The lighting is over exaggerated in a couple of scenes, reflecting off the camera lens.Near the end of the song little candles are placed into the lake, this may connotate peacefulness and calmness.
The costumes that are worn are not fitting, they're fairy like in the sense that they flow with the body movements. The artists face is covered by an embroided and sequined see-through cloth, this may have been portrayed to show the richness of the clothing that is worn. Throughout the whole video the costumes are very old fashioned and themed with the characters within the video. The main artist looks natural with hardly any makeup on. A hint of eye shadow and lipstick is seen, this may have been done to make her face stand out. Whereas the other characters in the video have no makeup on and a very innocent natural look to them. The artist has an accessory on her head (halo like) with her hair up showing the graciousness of her face and figure as she spins. Later on in the video her hair is let down and is free to flow in which ever direction it wants to with her dress, these small elements may be a connotation of angels with the purity and elegance of the artists form.
The location and setting is natural, its green with bushes and trees, complimenting the costumes and makeup. Faint smoke is in the background, giving the setting a misty flowing theme.
The body language is very fluid and is very welcoming. The faces are relaxed and happy throughout the video. The objects and the positioning of characters are everywhere keeping the video fluid. Florence is the main person throughout the video and everyone else is positioned around her.
