Why is Chroma Key used:
This technique used in film, video and still photography to replace a portion of an image with a new image. It is also referred to as color keying, color-separation overlay, greenscreen, and bluescreen.
commonly used to replaced a coloured background with a different setting, for example weather forecast broadcasts.
If the meteorologist wears blue clothes, his clothes will be replaced with the background video. This also works for greenscreens, since blue and green are considered the colors least like skin tone. This technique is also used in the entertainment industry, for example for special effects.
Chroma keys can be done in post-production or in real-time. Television programs such as news and entertainment shows use them a lot.
There are many different reasons to why it is used such as:
- The location doesn't exist or is not avaible
- For health and safety reasons
- To create illusions
- Cut traveling costs
